NRA’s tenure extended by one more year

KATHMANDU: The government has extended the tenure of National Reconstruction Authority (NRA) for one more year.

A meeting of the Council of Ministers held on November 30 took a decision to extend the NRA’s tenure one more year effective from December 25, 2020.

The NRA’s term was extended as per the Article 3 (C) of Act on Reconstruction of Earthquake Affected Structures, 2015.

According to the Act, if for any reason reconstruction work is not completed within the five-year period, the Government of Nepal may extend the term of the NRA for one year.

In the given time, the NRA is expected to complete the reconstruction works of private houses, Singhadurbar, Ranipokhari and Dharahara.

Earlier, the Authority’s Directive Committee meeting on September 21 presided over by Committee Chairman and Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli had recommended extending the NRA’s tenure for one more year.
