Hearing on writ petition against Bamdev on October 14

KATHMANDU: The hearing on writ petitions filed against the appointment of Bamdev Gautam, Vice Chairperson of the ruling Nepal Communist Party as a National Assembly (NA) member has been scheduled for October 14.

The hearing was postponed as some justices and staffers at the Supreme Court (SC) have contracted the coronavirus.

A five-member constitutional bench led by Chief Justice Cholendra Shamsher Rana was scheduled to hear the case today.

Only one to two benches are currently working at the SC every day for the last several days due to the fear of coronavirus spread.

It may be noted that the SC had in its first hearing issued an interim order barring Bamdev Gautam form taking over any responsibilities.
