Oli and Prachanda continue discussion on cabinet reshuffle

KATHMANDU: Prime Minister KP Oli and Nepal Communist Party Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal alias Prachanda have continued discussion on cabinet reshuffle today as well.

The two top brass had on Thursday discussed cabinet reshuffle and appointments in the constitutional bodies.

Oli and Dahal are holding one-on-one meeting at the Prime Minister’s official residence in Baluwatar today.

On Thursday also, they had held a meeting that lasted more than two hours.

A recent Secretariat meeting of the party had agreed to take forward cabinet reshuffle, constitutional appointments, party unity and other issues.

Prime Minister Oli who is also the chairman of the ruling NCP has already started doing homework on cabinet reformation.

Talking to Khabarhub Deputy Parliamentary Party Leader Subas Nembang earlier said there are no reasons for stalling the reformation of the cabinet.

“Prime Minister has already consulted with the party chairman and discussed this issue with the Secretariat members, too. They have already put their views on this issue,” said Nembang ruling out reasons to delay cabinet reformation.

A Secretariat meeting held earlier had discussed relieving all the ministers of their posts except the Prime Minister and make new appointments to ministries including the Ministry of Finance, the Ministry of Communication and Information Technology and the Ministry of Urban Development which are already vacant.

Prime Minister Oli had also proposed to split the Ministry of Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation into the Ministry of Energy and the Ministry of Water Resources and Irrigation and the Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Supplies into the Ministry of Industry and the Ministry of Commerce and Supplies.

The Secretariat meeting held on August 22 had entrusted chairman duo Oli and Dahal and General Secretary Bishnu Paudel to submit a draft report within ten days.
