UML leader Shankar Pokhrel intensifies door-to-door campaign in Dang-2

DANG: CPN-UML General Secretary Shankar Pokhrel, who is contesting the upcoming House of Representatives election from Dang Constituency No. 2, has intensified his engagement with voters through direct dialogue and door-to-door visits. Ahead of the elections scheduled for March 5, Pokhrel has made open debate on election agendas and grassroots interaction the cornerstone of his campaign strategy.

During several meetings held in Ghorahi Sub-metropolitan City-6 and 17 on Saturday, the former Chief Minister of Lumbini Province pivoted the discussion toward his past developmental achievements. Rather than focusing on his political journey, he centered the debate on the implementation of infrastructure projects he initiated during his tenure as the provincial head.

Pokhrel claimed that a clear blueprint for the long-term development of Dang was prepared under his leadership, and his candidacy aims to ensure the continuity of those stalled projects. He told voters that development plans should not be limited to paper and that capable leadership is required to bring them to fruition. He further noted that the responsibility of selecting a leadership capable of delivering results now rests in the hands of the electorate.

While interacting with residents of Ujjwal Tole and Pachurka Tole in Ghorahi-17, locals acknowledged that blacktopped roads had reached their doorsteps but raised concerns regarding the need for community buildings, irrigation, and improved drinking water facilities. Many residents expressed grievances over various development projects that had been left in limbo following his departure from the provincial government.

Addressing these concerns, Pokhrel made a specific commitment to complete the Damodar Marga, a strategic road project he had prioritized as Chief Minister. He criticized the subsequent government for making the project “budget-less” and leaving it in a state of neglect, assuring the public that he would personally take the responsibility for its completion.

The UML General Secretary concluded that the prosperity of Dang must be treated as a shared agenda above partisan slogans. He emphasized that the region’s growth requires a combination of continuous planning, a clear vision, and the institutional capacity to execute major infrastructure projects effectively.
