Police arrest 35 individuals with illegal drugs across Nepal



KATHMANDU: The Nepal Police have arrested 35 individuals from various parts of the country in connection with illegal drugs. The arrests were made in Kathmandu, Bhaktapur, Jhapa, Bardiya, Sunsari, Kanchanpur, Nuwakot, and Siraha districts.

According to the Nepal Police, two individuals were arrested in Gongbu, Tokha Municipality–9, Kathmandu, with substances resembling brown sugar. In Jhapa, two were arrested from Gauriganj Rural Municipality–2, and one from Mechinagar Municipality–6, Purano Mechipul. Additionally, two individuals were apprehended in Birtamod Municipality–4, Kanchanjangha Tole.

In Bhaktapur, one person was arrested from Surya Binayak Municipality–5, Katunje Chowk, and in Madhyapur Thimi Municipality, one from Bode (Ward 9) and another from Radheradhe Dera (Ward 5) whose family is originally from Jumla.

In Bardiya, one individual was arrested from Rajapur Municipality–10, Kothiyaghat Bridge. In Sunsari, six were arrested from Barahakshetra Municipality–6, Thakurbari; three from Inaruwa Municipality–4, Baschok; two from Barahakshetra Municipality–7, Sombare; one from Dharan Sub-Metropolitan City–13, Adarsha Nagar; five from Itahari Sub-Metropolitan City–17, Pakali; and one more from Ward 17 of Itahari.

In Kanchanpur, three were arrested from Punarbas Municipality–11, Amarabasti Masanghat; in Nuwakot, two from Bidur Municipality–9, Baghtar; and in Siraha, one from Golbazar Municipality–6, Gumbatol, according to local police offices.

The police have stated that these arrests are part of ongoing operations to curb illegal drug trafficking and maintain public safety.
