1,773 drivers penalized in Kathmandu Valley for traffic violations in a single day



KATHMANDU: The Kathmandu Valley Traffic Police Office has taken action against 1,773 drivers for violating traffic rules in a single day, collecting Rs 644,502 in revenue from fines.

According to the traffic police, the action was taken against drivers involved in a range of violations, including drunk driving, speeding, signal violations, and improper parking.

Among those penalized were 100 drivers for driving under the influence of alcohol, 118 for operating ride-sharing services in violation of regulations, 136 for traffic signal violations, and 237 for overspeeding.

Similarly, 82 drivers were booked for not following lane discipline, 89 for honking in prohibited areas, 120 for parking on sidewalks, and 91 for driving on one-way roads.

An additional 800 drivers were penalized for other traffic rule violations, the office said.

Traffic police said the enforcement drive is part of ongoing efforts to improve road discipline and reduce accidents in the Kathmandu Valley.
