Two killed, three injured in jeep accident in Achham



ACHHAM: Two people died and three others sustained injuries after a jeep met with an accident along the Mid-Hill Highway in Panchadewal Binayak Municipality-4, Thapamod, Achham, on Thursday night.

The jeep, bearing registration number Ba Pra 01-027 Cha 2277 and operated by Satlok Ashram, Janakpur, was en route from Darchula to Jumla when it plunged around 200 meters off the road.

According to Achham District Police Office chief DSP Om Prakash Khanal, two of the injured passengers succumbed to their injuries while undergoing treatment at the Provincial Hospital in Surkhet.

The deceased have been identified as 41-year-old Navin Tuladhar of Hetauda Sub-Metropolitan City, Makwanpur, and 45-year-old Ram Prakash Tharu of Bansgadhi Municipality-5, Bardiya.

The injured are 27-year-old Sant Kumar Sah of Kalyanpur Municipality-10, Siraha; Arjun Kumar Paudel of Fedikhola Rural Municipality-4, Syangja; and the driver, 28-year-old Raj Rajendra Bhimraj Chattan Gupta of Nepalgunj Sub-Metropolitan City-5.

A police team deployed from Belkhet carried out an immediate rescue operation and transported the injured to Rakam Karnali Basic Hospital in Dailekh for initial treatment. They were later referred to Surkhet for further medical care.

Police are investigating the cause of the accident.
