India hands over 250 vehicles to Nepal for election preparation

KATHMANDU: India has formally handed over more than 250 vehicles to the Government of Nepal as part of the second phase of assistance for the upcoming elections.

The handover ceremony was held on Thursday at the Ministry of Finance in Singha Durbar. Acting Indian Ambassador Dr. Rakesh Pandey presented the vehicles in the presence of Finance Minister Rameshore Prasad Khanal.

The Indian Embassy said the vehicles were provided in response to Nepal’s request to support preparations for the upcoming elections.

Speaking at the program, Minister Khanal highlighted the long-term cooperation and friendly ties between India and Nepal and thanked the Indian government and people for their support. He also noted the importance of this assistance in Nepal’s election preparations.

India had provided the first phase of election-related support to Nepal on January 20, 2026. According to the Indian Embassy, additional materials will be delivered in phases over the coming weeks.

The embassy added that India’s continued support reflects not only the multidimensional development partnership between the two countries but also the deep mutual trust and friendship between the peoples of India and Nepal.
