Scooter rider killed, motorcyclist injured in accident near Kamalbinayak Bus Park



BHAKTAPUR: A scooter rider was killed and a motorcyclist injured after being hit by a tipper near the Kamalbinayak bus park in Bhaktapur on Thursday.

According to Superintendent of Police Surya Bahadur Khadka, Chief of the District Police Office, Bhaktapur, the accident occurred when a motorcycle (Ba 55 Pa 1745) heading from Kamalbinayak towards Chyamasing lost control and fell onto the road. The motorcycle then collided with a scooter (Bagmati Province 02–020 Pa 1168) coming from the same direction.

Moments later, a tipper truck (Province 3–01–003 Ka 6291) approaching from behind struck the scooter, resulting in serious injuries to the scooter rider.

The scooter rider, identified as 26-year-old Bimal Banmala of Bhaktapur Municipality–8, succumbed to his injuries during treatment at Bhaktapur Hospital, police said.

The injured motorcyclist, 24-year-old Rajesh Banmala of Inachok, Bhaktapur Municipality–7, is currently undergoing treatment at B&B Hospital in Lalitpur.

Police have taken the tipper driver, 25-year-old Rajkumar Majhi of Sindhupalchok, into custody after he attempted to flee the scene. An investigation into the incident is underway, and all three vehicles involved in the accident have been kept at the Jagati Police Circle for further examination.
