RSP Chair Lamichhane stable after leg infection

KATHMANDU: The health condition of Rabi Lamichhane, Chairperson of the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP), is reported to be stable, according to Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital in Maharajgunj.

Lamichhane was admitted to the hospital yesterday after developing an infection (cellulitis) in his left leg. Hospital spokesperson Dr. Gopal Sedhai confirmed that his condition remains normal and that he is receiving intravenous antibiotics for treatment.

The injury occurred during Lamichhane’s participation in a program in Janakpur on Magh 5. Despite taking medication, the wound did not heal properly, and the infection worsened, leading to hospitalization, party deputy spokesperson Pratibha Rawal said.

Following doctors’ advice, Lamichhane is under observation in the hospital due to the risk of infection.

“Although the injury itself is not serious, considering the possibility of the infection spreading, the Chairperson will return to regular political and organizational activities only after full treatment and recovery,” Rawal added.
