Prachanda urges Biplav to join broader communist unity with self-criticism

KATHMANDU: Coordinator of the Nepali Communist Party (NCP), Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’, has urged Netra Bikram Chand ‘Biplav’ to join a broader communist unity through self-criticism, warning that staying away from unity could lead to future regret.

Speaking at a program held at the party office in Parisdanda on Wednesday to induct leaders who had rebelled from the Biplav-led party into the NCP, Prachanda said the doors remain open for Biplav if he is willing to engage in self-reflection and return to the path of communist unity.

Prachanda claimed that while efforts to bring Biplav into unity during the period of the Socialist Front had reached a final stage, the Biplav-led leadership fell into ideological confusion following the Gen-Z movement. He said the country is currently facing extraordinary circumstances, requiring communist forces to unite rather than act on impulse.

According to Prachanda, attempts were made to consolidate the communist movement to build collective strength, but Biplav missed that opportunity. He stressed that the present situation demands unity among communist forces to prevent the country from heading toward another crisis.

Stating that he holds no resentment toward Biplav, Prachanda said he is still ready to welcome him if he comes forward with self-criticism. He warned that failure to unite and launch a nationwide campaign at this critical time could push the country toward further instability.

During the program, Prachanda also called on other communist groups to join the unity process. On the occasion, several leaders from the Biplav-led party, including central committee member and former student wing chairperson Chiranjeevi Dhakal, formally joined the NCP.
