Labour Minister urges Saudi Arabia not to disrupt visa processing for Nepali workers

KATHMANDU: Minister for Youth and Employment Ramji Yadav has urged Saudi Arabia to ensure that the visa process for Nepali workers remains unaffected amid plans to implement a skill verification process.

During a courtesy meeting with Saudi Ambassador to Nepal Fahd Mohammad A. Mnikhr, Minister Yadav requested the immediate suspension of the proposed Skill Verification Program (SVP) for Nepali workers.

He stressed that the implementation of the process should not disrupt visa issuance and called for existing visa procedures to continue without interruption.

Referring to concerns among Nepali workers preparing to travel to Saudi Arabia, Yadav said uncertainty surrounding the skill verification mechanism had already created difficulties and urged the Saudi side to ensure employment opportunities are not affected.

The minister also emphasized that issues related to the Skill Verification Program should be resolved through bilateral consultation and established mechanisms based on mutual understanding.

According to the minister’s secretariat, Ambassador A. Mnikhr assured that necessary consultations would be held with the Saudi government and further information would be shared on the matter.
