KATHMANDU: The Health Insurance Board has decided to suspend health insurance services being provided through private health institutions, except for emergency care.
Citing a growing financial crisis, the Board said it has temporarily halted all insured services other than emergency treatment.
A meeting of the Health Insurance Board held on May 25 took the decision, according to the Board.
As per the decision, all non-emergency health insurance services provided by private health institutions enrolled under the government’s health insurance programme will be suspended effective from May 30, according to a notice issued by Acting Executive Director Shakuntala Prajapati.
The Board stated that the suspension will remain in effect until further notice.
