RSP leader Balen Shah claims party will win clear majority

KATHMANDU: Senior leader of the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP), Balen Shah, has claimed that the party will secure a clear majority in the House of Representatives election scheduled for March 5.

After touring Jhapa Constituency No. 5 and several districts of Koshi Province, Shah made the remarks on Sunday while meeting RSP candidates at the residence of party supporter Kumar Bane in Jawalakhel, Lalitpur.

During discussions on election preparations and strategy, Shah said the RSP would win a clear majority in this election and form the next government.
Speaking to journalists after the meeting, Dr Toshima Karki, the RSP candidate from Lalitpur Constituency No. 3, said discussions with Shah focused on the election campaign and strategy.

According to party leaders, Shah expressed confidence to the candidates that the RSP would form a majority government and urged them to go door to door to understand voters’ problems. He also took briefings from the candidates on the progress and status of their election campaigns.

Karki quoted Shah as saying, “We are forming the government. Go confidently to voters’ homes. Let us listen to their problems and discuss solutions. This time, we will form a clear majority government.”

Similarly, RSP candidate from Kathmandu Constituency No. 1, Ranju Darshana, said the meeting also included discussions on election strategy, adding that Shah encouraged candidates to move forward confidently with their campaigns.

For the upcoming House of Representatives election, Balen Shah is contesting from Jhapa–5, where he is facing CPN-UML chair KP Sharma Oli.
