Oli announces readiness for public debate with PM candidates

KATHMANDU: CPN-UML Chairman KP Sharma Oli has announced his willingness to participate in a public debate with other prime ministerial candidates, emphasizing the need for transparency and direct discussion of parties’ agendas, past achievements, and future plans.

He wrote on social media: “In this competition between parties that burn the country and those that build the country, our party, CPN-UML, stands on the side of building the country.”

Oli said he has heard from public intellectuals that there is a growing demand for a transparent debate among party leaders. Such a debate is seen as necessary because some parties may try to hide their true character by relying on social media propaganda.

He added: “In this year’s election, historic parties, parties formed in previous elections, and some newly formed parties have also nominated their prime ministerial candidates. The public deserves to know the agendas of parties seeking to lead the country, their past contributions, and their roadmap for the future. A face-to-face debate on these questions is very positive.”

Oli confirmed: “I am ready to present the facts of our past achievements and our agenda for the future in a public debate.”

He also expressed his commitment to participate in a platform where all prime ministerial candidates can be asked direct questions, urging other parties to organize such a debate and bring all candidates together.
