KATHMANDU: The Pokhara Valley Municipal Development Committee (PVMDC) has issued a public notice urging all concerned parties to remove constructions, including shops, set up in the Pokhara Bus Park area within 15 days.
The PVMDC has requested business owners to cooperate in the process of constructing the Pokhara Bus Park by dismantling illegal structures, including shops. The notice seeks the immediate removal of encroachments in the Seti River area extending from Pokhara House to Seti Bridge, from the Prithvi Highway towards the south, and from the Airport towards the north and east.
The notice, issued on Saturday, states that if the encroachments are not cleared within the stipulated time, the Committee will take action to remove the structures and recover the associated costs from the responsible individuals and organizations.
Additionally, landowners in the bus park area have been asked to appear at the PVMDC office within seven days with their citizenship certificates, copies of land ownership certificates, land revenue payment receipts, and other relevant documents.
Earlier, on April 17, Pokhara Metropolitan City–9 had also issued a public notice directing the removal of structures encroaching on the bus park area near Prithvi Chowk. Following the expiry of the 35-day notice period on Saturday, the PVMDC issued another warning.
The land designated for the bus park, which is owned by the PVMDC, is currently occupied by landless people, Dalits, and squatters. Around 205 ropanis of land were acquired in 2031/32 BS for the construction of the bus park, but the project was never implemented.
At present, the land earmarked for the bus park has been heavily encroached upon, leaving only about 60 ropanis under public ownership. The Metropolitan City is now preparing to move ahead with the construction of a modern Pokhara Bus Park after clearing the encroachments.
