Three arrested with drugs in Jhapa



BHADRAPUR: Three people have been arrested with illegal drugs from the border area of Jhapa over Friday and Saturday, according to police.

Police arrested 17-year-old Gaurav Chaudhary of Shivashatakshi Municipality-9 at Chartagachhi in Jhapa Rural Municipality-4 on Friday night while he was allegedly walking into Nepal from India.

According to Deputy Superintendent of Police Ranjan Awa, information officer at the District Police Office, a search found 7 grams and 10 milligrams of brown sugar, including its plastic packaging, along with 18 nitrogen tablets in his possession.

Similarly, police arrested 28-year-old Prabhash Baske and 26-year-old Philip Mardi, both from Shivashatakshi-6, at Taghandubba School Tole on Saturday morning while they were allegedly entering Nepal from India on bicycles.

Police said 1 gram and 75 milligrams of brown sugar, including its plastic packaging, was recovered from their possession.

Further investigation into all three suspects is underway, police said.
