KATHMANDU: The second meeting of the government-formed task force to prepare a discussion paper on constitutional amendments has been scheduled for today (Thursday).
Task force coordinator Asim Shah has called the meeting for 3:00 pm at the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers. The panel has already begun consultations to draft the amendment discussion document.
An initial meeting held on April 8 focused on general discussions. Representatives from several political parties, including Bhishma Adhikari (CPN-UML), Dev Gurung (NCP), Dhrubaraj Rai (Shram Sanskriti Party), Gyan Bahadur Shahi (RPP), and Durga Poudel of Rastriya Janamorcha, had participated.
Rajendra Lav from the Loktantrik Samajwadi Party and Dr Surendra Kumar Jha from the Janata Samajwadi Party Nepal were also present. The Nepali Congress, however, did not send a representative, instead seeking clarity on the specific areas proposed for amendment.
Following the request, the task force circulated details of the proposed discussion paper to all political parties.
