Govt instructs hospitals to provide Gen-Z injured details before Feb 27

KATHMANDU: The government has instructed all health institutions (hospitals) to provide details of individuals injured during the Gen-Z protest.

Dr. Prakash Budhathoki, spokesperson for the Ministry of Health and Population, stated that all institutions involved in the treatment of those discharged during the Gen-Z protests have been directed to submit the details to the Ministry of Health immediately.

According to Dr. Budhathoki, the Ministry issued this directive following the decision of the coordination committee established to ensure effective treatment and care for the injured. All health institutions have been asked to provide the details by February 27.

Dr. Budhathoki added that the information is being collected to complete the listing, classification, and reclassification of the injured on schedule. The final list of injured individuals will be made public after reviewing the applications received by February 27.

So far, only the classification details of 200 injured individuals have been submitted. Dr. Budhathoki noted that while many people were injured during the Gen-Z protest, minor injuries may have gone unreported due to the lack of available facilities.

The government has decided to provide monthly support of Rs 9,000 to those classified as extremely serious and their caregivers, Rs 9,000 to the seriously injured, and Rs 4,000 to the moderately injured. According to ministry records, a total of 2,599 people were injured during the Gen-Z demonstration.
