Temporary polling stations set in Sunsari ahead of election

SUNSARI: The District Election Office, Sunsari, has announced the establishment of two temporary polling stations for the upcoming House of Representatives (HoR) election scheduled for March 5.

According to District Election Officer Krishna Paudel, one temporary polling station will be set up at Jhumka Prison in Ramdhuni-5 to allow prisoners to cast their votes. The second station will be located at the Jhumka Agricultural Entrepreneur Promotion Center in Ramdhuni Municipality-1, designated for government employees, other staff, and security personnel.

“The polling station at the prison will ensure that inmates exercise their voting rights, while employees and security personnel will vote at the Agricultural Entrepreneur Center,” explained Paudel.

The Election Office has reported that there are currently over 2,000 temporary voters in the district, though the number may change after final approval of the temporary voter list post-election.

It has been clarified that temporary voters will not have the facility to vote for direct candidates. Across Koshi Province, temporary polling stations have been allocated on a district-by-district basis, with 28 temporary constituencies designated for such voters in the upcoming election.
