KATHMANDU: The Department of Immigration has introduced a new “Digital Time Card” system aimed at making service delivery more efficient and user-friendly.
The system was officially launched on Thursday during a program held at the department.
According to the department, the Digital Time Card will allow real-time tracking of applications, instant notifications at each processing stage, and digital payment of service fees through the same system.
Officials said the initiative is expected to enhance responsibility and accountability within the office, create a foundation for data-based performance evaluation, and improve speed and efficiency in service delivery while promoting transparency and public trust.
Director General Ramchandra Tiwari said all major services of the department have already been digitized to ensure faster and more streamlined operations.
He also said arrangements have been made to send back passengers from the airport at their own expense if they are found to have valid tickets and visas but are still denied entry under immigration rules.
Tiwari added that the department is working in line with the government’s governance reform agenda, particularly point 23 of the 100-point reform plan, which aims to make all public service processes digital, trackable, and transparent.
