Traffic police said the increasing vehicle flow, haphazard parking, reckless driving, and disregard for traffic rules have raised the risk of road accidents in the Valley. Regular checks, monitoring, and special enforcement campaigns have been carried out to control the situation.
Spokesperson and Superintendent of Police Naresh Raj Subedi said among those penalized were 629 drivers caught driving under the influence of alcohol.
Similarly, 1,036 ride-sharing operators were penalized for violating regulations.
