Rastriya Prajatantra Party commits fully to elections despite disagreements over system: Lingden

KATHMANDU: Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) Chair Rajendra Lingden has stated that the party is fully participating in the upcoming elections, even though it disagrees with the current electoral system.

Speaking at a program held at the party office in Dhumbarahi on Monday, Lingden said the party remains firm that the elections, conducted without addressing issues in the state structure, electoral system, and appointment mechanisms, will not provide a real solution. However, since the country has already moved strongly towards elections, the party has decided to participate fully.

“As a democratic party, we will take part in the elections and use the process as an integral part of our political movement,” Lingden said. He added that a new understanding among the former monarchy, political parties, and the Gen-Z generation is necessary to build long-term peace and stability in the country.

The RPP chief reiterated the need for a monarchy as a guardian institution and emphasized that a two-tiered governance structure should be in place.

During the program, Lingden also inducted lawyer Swagat Nepal into the party. Nepal has been announced as the RPP candidate for Jhapa-2.
