Balen skips RSP orientation closing despite repeated requests to attend

KATHMANDU: Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) chairperson Rabi Lamichhane attended the closing ceremony of the party’s orientation program on Wednesday. However, senior leader and potential future prime minister candidate Balendra Shah did not participate.

A party leader told Khabarhub that Shah was requested to attend the program even for an hour but declined, citing a packed schedule.

Shah reportedly informed the party that due to health concerns and ongoing preparations for government formation, he would not be able to attend.

“Even though we requested him to come, he said he could not due to health and other commitments. Party Chair Lamichhane will attend the closing program,” the leader said. “Party vice-chairpersons, Swarnim and DP, along with General Secretary Kabindra Bulakoti, also asked him to be present, but he could not attend due to prior commitments.”

On Tuesday, Vice-Chairperson DP Aryal had informed that efforts were being made to have Shah present for the ceremony. However, Shah’s secretariat confirmed that he would not participate in the orientation program.
