KATHMANDU: The Ministry of Youth, Labour and Employment has decided to organise skills and employment fairs across the country as part of the Employment Promotion Decade.
The ministry has issued the Skills and Employment Fair Operation Guidelines, 2026 and held a meeting on Thursday under the coordination of the Labour Minister to organise and operate the fairs in accordance with the guidelines.
The meeting of the Guidance and Coordination Committee decided to organise a skills and employment fair in Itahari, Koshi Province, from Ashoj 14 to 20.
The ministry plans to gradually expand the fairs to other provinces as part of a nationwide campaign.
The fairs will be organised through coordination and collaboration among all three tiers of government, the private and non-governmental sectors, development partner organisations, employers’ associations and federations, industrialists and businesspeople, and educational and training institutions.
The ministry said the initiative aims to promote skills, employment, entrepreneurship and self-employment, encourage respect for labour and expand employment opportunities within the country. It has also called on all stakeholders to participate in the campaign.
Following the meeting, Minister for Youth, Labour and Employment Ramji Yadav stressed the need to make Nepal’s labour market more attractive. He said the government and private sector should coordinate and collaborate to send a positive message that people can find employment and become entrepreneurs in Nepal.
Minister Yadav also emphasised the need for all concerned agencies, including the government and private sector, to work together to build a strong skills and employment ecosystem to make the Domestic Employment Decade successful.
He expressed confidence that the skills and employment fair would serve as a milestone in building such a system.
