KATHMANDU: Narayan Prasad Dahal, Chair of the National Assembly, held a courtesy meeting with newly appointed Chinese Ambassador to Nepal Zhang Maoming on Monday.
The meeting took place at Dahal’s office in Singha Durbar, where the two discussed bilateral relations between Nepal and China, parliamentary cooperation, mutual assistance and other contemporary issues.
Highlighting the long-standing ties between the two countries, Dahal said Nepal–China relations are strong and cordial not only at the diplomatic level but also among the people of both nations.
According to Dahal’s secretariat, he also mentioned that Nepal recently held elections for the House of Representatives of Nepal on March 5 and is currently in the process of forming a new government. He expressed appreciation for the support provided by China during the difficult circumstances that emerged after the Gen-Z movement and during the election period.
On the occasion, Ambassador Zhang said that friendly relations between China and Nepal based on traditional mutual benefits have continued since the establishment of diplomatic ties. He noted that exchanges of visits at the presidential level have significantly strengthened cooperation and elevated bilateral relations to new heights.
The meeting was attended by National Assembly Secretary Tul Bahadur Kandel along with officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Nepal, the Federal Parliament Secretariat Nepal and representatives from the Embassy of China in Nepal.
