Woman, two children go missing in Surkhet; search underway



KARNALI: A woman and her two children have gone missing since Sunday morning in Surkhet District, prompting police to launch a search operation.

According to Deputy Superintendent of Police Mohan Jung Budthapa of the District Police Office, Maya Kathayat from Piplegaun of Gurbhakot Municipality-11 has been out of contact along with her 11-year-old daughter and 5-year-old son.

Her husband, Bhupendra Kathayat, filed a missing persons report with police after the three failed to return home.

Following the report, a four-member security team, accompanied by a local representative, began a search operation.

During the search, police discovered a bag, shawl, pair of slippers and a mobile phone believed to belong to Maya on the bank of the Bheri River, around three kilometers from their home.

Police said that 35 personnel from the Area Police Office, along with local residents, are currently searching along the Bheri River and nearby areas to locate the missing individuals.
