A-Division clubs protest ANFA’s unilateral decision on league schedule

KATHMANDU: A-Division clubs staged a protest on Monday, accusing the All Nepal Football Association (ANFA) of unilaterally deciding the schedule for the Martyrs Memorial A-Division League without implementing prior agreements reached with the clubs.

The protesting clubs gathered at the ANFA Complex in Satdobato and attempted to march toward the association’s office. However, police stopped them at the gate, after which the clubs staged a sit-in outside the premises.

Club representatives said ANFA fixed the league date without consultation, ignoring an earlier agreement that included a schedule decided on November 3, 2025. They demanded that the federation honor that agreement.

The clubs have also called for the immediate opening of the transfer window for foreign players and the implementation of a one-door system for obtaining permits.

In addition, they stressed that since the league agreement mentions the participation of 14 clubs, ANFA must ensure the inclusion of all 14 teams to avoid legal complications regarding the league’s legitimacy.

The protesting clubs accused ANFA of arbitrarily fixing the league schedule without discussions with participating teams and demanded that the decision be corrected in line with earlier agreements.

They also emphasized that the league date should be determined only after ensuring all technical and financial aspects in consultation with the clubs.
