Protest held in Kakarbhitta demanding justice for Inisha BK



KATHMANDU: A protest was held in Kakarbhitta of Jhapa District on Monday demanding strict legal action against those responsible for the rape and murder of Inisha BK of Surkhet.

The protest rally, led by the Pragatisheel Yuwa Club Dhulabari, began from the premises of Hanuman Temple, Kakarbhitta. The rally marched through different parts of the town before concluding in a warning assembly at the eastern border gate.

Students and teachers from various schools in Mechinagar Municipality, along with human rights activists, representatives of different organizations and journalists, participated in the demonstration.

Participants carried placards with slogans such as “Punish the perpetrators severely,” “Stop violence and killings,” and “Where daughters feel fear, society has failed.”

Addressing the gathering, Ambika Bhandari, vice-chair of the Federation of Nepali Journalists, along with teacher Subhadra Bhattarai, women’s rights activists Radha Pradhan and Pooja Sapkota, and human rights activist Binay Karki demanded an impartial investigation and strict punishment for those responsible.

Speakers said such serious crimes have increased fear and insecurity in society and urged the government to ensure swift justice for the victim’s family.
