Hearing on Rabi Lamichhane’s writ petition schedule for today

KATHMANDU: The Supreme Court (SC) is scheduled to hear a writ petition today challenging the decision to withdraw money laundering and organized crime charges against Rabi Lamichhane, Chair of the Rastriya Swatantra Party.

A joint bench of Justices Saranga Subedi and Sunil Kumar Pokharel had conducted the preliminary hearing earlier.

Previously, a joint bench of Justices Sapana Pradhan Malla and Shrikanta Paudel had ordered that the petition be presented for a regular hearing on Sunday.

Former Attorney General Sabita Bhandari Baral had decided to withdraw the money laundering and organized crime cases filed against Lamichhane during the previous government.

Following that decision, separate writ petitions were filed at the Supreme Court by Yuvraj Paudel, senior advocate Dinesh Tripathi and advocate Abhas Regmi challenging the move.
