KATHMANDU: A vehicle allegedly parked by a government-backed group was left blocking the entrance to the residence of Nepali Congress President Gagan Kumar Thapa in Ratopul on Monday morning, hours after similar suspicious parking incidents outside several media houses in Kathmandu.
The car was reportedly parked across the entrance to Thapa’s residence at around 7 a.m., obstructing access and preventing even motorcycles from entering or leaving the premises.
A local eyewitness claimed the driver abandoned the vehicle and then left the area in a van used by Nepal Police. The allegation has not been officially confirmed, and police have yet to comment on the claim.
The incident follows similar cases earlier on Monday, when privately registered vehicles were parked in front of the offices of Kantipur Media Group in Tinkune, Himalaya Television in Mid-Baneshwor, and Onlinekhabar in Buddhanagar, blocking access to their premises.
Police later removed those vehicles using cranes and said an investigation was underway to identify those responsible and determine the motive behind the coordinated incidents. No official explanation has yet been provided regarding the latest case outside Thapa’s residence.
