Three killed in separate incidents



KATHMANDU: Three people have died in separate incidents in Makawanpur, Rukum West and Darchula districts over the past 24 hours.

In Makawanpur, a container driver died after the container he was driving collided with a truck along the Hetauda–Narayangadh road at Newarpani in Hetauda Sub-Metropolitan City-19.

The driver, 38-year-old Govinda Chaudhary of Piparabhitta, Ward 15 of Barahathawa Municipality in Sarlahi, was rescued by locals and rushed to CMC Churehill Hospital for treatment.

According to District Police Office Makawanpur, doctors declared him dead upon arrival. Police have taken the truck driver, 42-year-old Dhaneswar Chaudhary of Khairahani Municipality-9 in Chitwan, into custody.

In Rukum West District, an elderly man died after being crushed by a log of wood in Musikot Municipality-11. Police said 75-year-old Sarun Oli died when a log fell on him while he was removing it from a stack at a house construction site in Syabang.

In Darchula District, an election police officer died after falling from a cliff while returning home. The deceased has been identified as 40-year-old Prakash Dhami of Lekam Rural Municipality-2.

According to Police Inspector and Information Officer Hemraj Bhatta of the District Police Office Darchula, Dhami sustained serious injuries after falling from a cliff in Lekam Rural Municipality-1. He died during treatment at Seti Provincial Hospital.
