Former Pokhara mayor Krishna Thapa dies of heart attack



KATHMANDU: Krishna Thapa, in-charge of the Kaski district committee of the UML, passed away on Thursday after suffering a heart attack.

Thapa reportedly collapsed while speaking during a meeting of the party’s Kaski district committee. He was immediately rushed to Manipal Teaching Hospital for treatment, where he later died, according to Kaski UML chair Bain Bahadur Adhikari.

Thapa previously served as the mayor of Pokhara after being elected in the 1997 local elections.

He had also served as the former chair of the UML Kaski district committee. Following the people’s movement, Thapa was elected as a central committee member of the party during its general convention.
