KATHMANDU: The government has collected Rs 2.14 billion in revenue from mineral-based industries, according to the Department of Mines and Geology.
The revenue was generated during the last fiscal year and the first eight months of the current fiscal year through permits and licence renewals for the extraction of mineral resources such as limestone, red clay, metals and stone.
According to the department, extraction permits were issued in the previous fiscal year for minerals including limestone, tourmaline, talc, quartz, kyanite, marble, iron, zinc, quartzite, magnesite, dolomite and copper.
The department said the revenue was collected through approvals and renewals related to the extraction of these mineral resources.
