Pillars of federal democratic republic institutionalized: President

KATHMANDU: President Ram Chandra Paudel has said that the pillars of the federal democratic republic have now been institutionalized.

Addressing a joint session of both Houses of the Federal Parliament on Friday, President Paudel stated, “The pillars of the federal democratic republic have been institutionalized.”

He stressed that efforts should now focus on public welfare, urging Parliament to enact laws that serve the broader interests of the people.

Addressing the joint session, President Paudel called for prioritising good governance, corruption control, job creation, and economic prosperity.

He said the people expect accountable and transparent governance, effective service delivery, an end to corruption, social justice, and rapid economic development.

President Paudel thanked all political parties, candidates, civil servants, security personnel, and voters for contributing to the peaceful conduct of the elections. He also urged the new government to work in line with public expectations. He appreciated the role of the interim government in ensuring good governance and improving service delivery during the election period.

Highlighting the significant participation of youth in the House of Representatives, President Paudel said it has raised new hopes and expectations. He stressed that creating employment opportunities for young people within the country should be a top government priority.

“We must move beyond traditional thinking and explore new opportunities. Education must also be aligned with market demands,” he said.

He further underlined the need to promote a culture that respects labour and to address growing frustration among the youth.

The President stressed the importance of curbing corruption and improving public service delivery so that citizens can effectively feel the presence of the government. He called for efficient administration by eliminating delays and irregularities.

President Paudel said Nepal should pursue balanced diplomacy with national interests at its core, especially in the context of the evolving global situation. He also emphasised the need for stronger international initiatives to mitigate the impacts of climate change.

He urged all political parties to unite for strengthening the democratic republic, national unity, and economic prosperity. Calling for lessons to be learned from past challenges, he expressed confidence that Parliament would address the aspirations of the people.

The President concluded by calling on all Nepalis to work together towards good governance, development, and prosperity.
