Two killed in bus-motorcycle collision in Chitwan



CHITWAN: Two people died after a bus and a motorcycle collided at Tarkari Chowk in Khairhani Municipality-1, Chitwan, along the East-West Highway on Saturday afternoon.

According to the District Police Office, Chitwan, the accident occurred when a bus (Ba. Pra. 03-001 Kha 2773) travelling from Narayanghat to Bardibas collided with a motorcycle (Ba. Pra. 01-015 Pa 3385) coming from the opposite direction.

The motorcycle rider, a man believed to be around 30, and a woman, approximately 25, who was travelling as a pillion passenger, sustained serious injuries in the crash. They were rushed to New Medical College in Bharatpur for treatment.

Both succumbed to their injuries while undergoing treatment on Saturday afternoon, police said. Their identities have not yet been disclosed.

Police have arrested the bus driver, 51-year-old Ajay Kumar Maskey of Hariwan Municipality-8, Sarlahi, in connection with the accident. Both the bus and motorcycle have also been taken into police custody for investigation.
