Ballot papers printed for 100 constituencies in 44 districts



KATHMANDU: The Election Commission (EC) has completed the printing of ballot papers for 100 constituencies across 44 districts for the House of Representatives (HoR) election scheduled for March 5.

The ballots are being printed at Sanothimi, Bhaktapur. As of Monday, a total of 12 million 256 thousand ballot papers have been printed, according to Assistant Spokesperson of the Commission, Kul Bahadur GC. He said printing has been completed for districts including Dolpa, Mugu, Jumla, Kalikot, Humla, Jajarkot, Dailekh, Rukum (West), Salyan, Surkhet, Bajura, Achham, Bajhang, Doti, Dadeldhura, Darchula, Baitadi, Kailali, Kanchanpur, and Panchthar.

Similarly, ballot printing has been completed for Ilam, Tehrathum, Bhojpur, Okhaldhunga, Sunsari, Taplejung, Sankhuwasabha, Solukhumbu, Khotang, Dhankuta, Baglung, Gulmi, Jhapa, Gorkha, Myagdi, Parbat, Bardaghat Susta West (Nawalparasi), Morang, Udaypur, and Mustang.

Ballot papers for 44 districts, including Lamjung, Tanahun, Syangja, and Bardiya, have now been printed. GC said the printed ballots have been packed district-wise, and so far 10,759 ballot boxes have been prepared.

The Election Commission began printing ballot papers at Sanothimi for both the direct (first-past-the-post) and proportional representation systems. In the first phase, 1,098,200 sample ballot papers were printed and dispatched to districts.

According to the Commission, printing of ballots for the proportional representation system began on January 26, with 2.83 million ballots printed, packed, and prepared for dispatch. A total of 20.323 million ballots are to be printed for the direct election system.
