KATHMANDU: The National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority (NDRRMA) has urged people waiting for rescue to attract the attention of rescue teams by creating smoke from their location.
The authority said search and rescue operations have been intensified after flooding in the Bhotekoshi River in Rasuwa affected several districts, including Rasuwa, Nuwakot, Dhading and Chitwan.
It has also urged organisations operating helicopters and drones to coordinate with district administration offices, security agencies and local governments and assist in search and rescue operations in the affected areas.
The authority has specifically appealed to the Helicopter Society of Nepal, Nepal Drone Association and other organisations involved in helicopter and drone operations to support the rescue efforts.
It has urged residents in flood-affected areas to move to safer locations, remain alert to potential risks and coordinate with rescue teams.
NDRRMA spokesperson and joint secretary Shanti Mahat said rescue operations were continuing in the flood-affected districts.
