PM Balen Shah tells newly commissioned army officers to serve with discipline



KATHMANDU: Prime Minister Balendra Shah has urged newly commissioned officers of the Nepali Army to serve the nation with discipline, integrity and a strong sense of responsibility.

Addressing the commissioning parade of officer cadets at the Nepal Military Academy on Thursday, the prime minister congratulated the cadets for successfully completing nearly 36 months of rigorous training.

Shah encouraged the newly commissioned officers to dedicate themselves fully to the nation and its people, emphasizing the importance of military conduct, the chain of command and discipline in carrying out their duties.

He also expressed confidence that the officers would be able to lead soldiers from diverse social backgrounds and build a capable and unified team.

During the ceremony, Shah presented ceremonial khukuris and batons to outstanding officer cadets as symbols of excellence.

A total of 183 officer cadets demonstrated the commissioning parade at the event held under the prime minister’s chief guestship.

On the same occasion, Chief of Army Staff Ashok Raj Sigdel presented the “Nepali Military Academy Medallion” to three trainee officer cadets from the countries of Kenya and Zambia.

According to the academy, a total of 6,734 officer cadets, including cadet officers and senior cadet officers, along with 1,608 technical officers, have successfully completed training at the institution so far.

The academy has also been conducting training for foreign trainees since 2012, with 32 cadets from various countries having completed the program to date.

Family members and relatives of the newly commissioned officers were present at the ceremony to congratulate and adorn the cadets.
