WASHINGTON: US President Donald Trump has said American military forces will remain deployed in and around Iran until a “real agreement” is fully implemented, underscoring continued tensions despite recent diplomatic efforts.
In a post on Truth Social, Trump stated that US ships, aircraft, and military personnel—along with additional weapons and ammunition—would stay positioned in the region to ensure enforcement of the agreement. He warned that any failure to comply could trigger a significantly stronger military response.
Trump also reiterated longstanding US demands, including that Iran must not acquire nuclear weapons and that the Strait of Hormuz remains open and secure for global navigation.
“It was agreed… NO NUCLEAR WEAPONS and the Strait of Hormuz will be open and safe,” Trump said, while adding that US forces remain prepared for further action if required.
The US president also sharply criticized major media outlets, including The New York Times and CNN, accusing them of نشرing what he described as a “fake” ten-point plan related to negotiations with Iran. He claimed the reported plan was fabricated and intended to undermine ongoing diplomatic efforts.
Separately, White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt also pushed back against media coverage, stating that an initial proposal from Iran had been rejected outright by the US administration.
Leavitt said the Iranian proposal was “fundamentally unserious” and had been discarded, criticizing sections of the media for portraying it as acceptable to Washington. She urged news organizations to avoid spreading what she described as inaccurate narratives, adding that Iran’s public messaging often differs from its private communications with US officials.
