RSP elects new district committees in 18 districts across Bagmati and Koshi



KATHMANDU: The Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) has elected new district working committees in 18 districts through its ongoing conventions. So far, the first phase of conventions has been completed, resulting in the formation of committees in nine districts each of Bagmati and Koshi provinces.

According to the Central Election Commission, Raja Shakya has been elected chairperson of Kathmandu, Rameshwor Basnet of Bhaktapur, Prabin Dhakal of Kavrepalanchok, Abinash Basnet of Sindhuli, Ramesh Rayamajhi of Ramechhap, Dinesh Basnet of Dolakha, Rameshwor Gajurel of Nuwakot, Rajan Aryal of Dhading, and Sanjiv Pathak of Makawanpur.

Conventions are currently underway in Chitwan, Rasuwa, and Lalitpur in Bagmati Province, while the Sindhupalchowk convention, which began on Saturday, has been postponed, the commission said.

In Koshi Province, Sagar Dahal has been elected chairperson of Sunsari, Om Bhandari of Jhapa, Rajan Kumar Gurung of Taplejung, Bharat Kandel of Morang, Suman Khatri of Tehrathum, Khyam Bahadur Bhujel of Bhojpur, Bhaktanarayan Shrestha of Sankhuwasabha, and Krishna Bahadur Thapa of Okhaldhunga.

Commission chief KC said conventions are also being held today in Dhankuta, Udayapur, Solukhumbu, Khotang, and Ilam. Overall, the party is conducting conventions in 28 districts today.

Meanwhile, the Central Election Commission has clarified rules regarding participation in district conventions, stating that representatives from municipal committees whose conventions have not been held will not be eligible to participate.

It further said that in municipalities where conventions have been completed, only members appointed before Baisakh 15 will qualify as district convention representatives.
