Gosaikunda fair preparations complete, pilgrims assured of safe travel

RASUWA: Preparations for the Gosaikunda fair to be held on Janai Purnima have been completed, with arrangements made for the health, security, food and accommodation of pilgrims.

Eleven subcommittees formed under the leadership of Langtang National Park have completed their respective responsibilities and expressed commitment to making the religious journey safer, easier and more organised than in previous years.

Gosaikunda Rural Municipality Chairperson Kaisang Nurpu Tamang urged pilgrims to travel without fear while remaining mindful of possible adverse weather conditions. He said patients requiring emergency assistance would be rescued free of charge using vehicles or, if necessary, helicopters.

Govinda Batsyal, executive director of the Himalayan Rescue Association Nepal, said pilgrims travelling to Gosaikunda, located at an altitude of 4,380 metres above sea level, could experience altitude sickness and other health problems.

He said health camps had been established at different locations along the route. The camps, which began operating from Sunday afternoon, will remain open until Bhadra 13. Six doctors and Himalayan Rescue Association representative Prakash Khatri have been deployed with necessary medicines and oxygen.

Rasuwa Chief District Officer Narendra Pariyar said the Nepal Army, Nepal Police and Armed Police Force Nepal have been mobilised as required to ensure the safety of pilgrims.

Pariyar also said there are currently no difficult conditions along the route to Gosaikunda as portrayed on social media. Landslides caused by heavy rainfall are being cleared promptly, he said.

However, he urged pilgrims to remain alert to geological risks and take necessary precautions while travelling.

With arrangements in place for health services, security and emergency rescue, Pariyar urged pilgrims to travel to Gosaikunda with confidence.
