KATHMANDU: The U.S. Embassy Nepal is bringing acclaimed American country singer-songwriter Jessica Lynn to Kathmandu for a week-long professional exchange with Nepali musicians and music industry professionals from August 24 to 29.
The programme is part of the Arts & Music Envoy Program, funded by the U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs.
During her visit, Lynn will engage with Nepali singers, musicians, songwriters, producers, artist managers and other music professionals through interactive sessions on songwriting, music business, digital platforms, copyright and the broader music industry.
The programme aims to provide Nepali artists and music professionals with new perspectives on international markets, audiences and potential collaboration with American music industry peers.
As Nepal’s music sector continues to expand, the exchange is expected to strengthen connections between Nepali creative professionals and international markets and audiences.
“The U.S.-Nepal partnership extends to the arts, and we are proud to share American musical excellence as we celebrate 250 years of American independence this year,” said U.S. Chargé d’Affaires Scott Urbom.
“Music is a powerful way to connect our peoples. By creating space for American and Nepali artists and audiences to learn from one another, share their perspectives, and build meaningful professional connections, we are glad to contribute to economic growth and creativity in Nepal’s growing industry,” he added.
Public Concert on August 29
The Arts & Music Envoy programme will conclude with a public concert on Saturday, August 29, at The Plaza, Pulchowk.
Doors will open at 3:30 p.m. for registered invitees, while the programme will begin at 4:30 p.m.
The concert will feature performances by Nepali artists Rato Rani and Ujan Shakya, alongside Jessica Lynn.
The event will also feature a special fusion performance by Lynn and renowned sarangi player Kiran Nepali, a U.S. government exchange programme alumnus.
