Balen Shah takes commanding lead over Oli in Jhapa-5



JHAPA: Balen Shah, senior leader of Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP), has taken a commanding lead in the vote count in Jhapa Constituency-5, leaving CPN-UML Chair KP Sharma Oli trailing by over  25,000 votes.

According to the latest update from the election officer’s office, Shah has secured 32,336 votes out of 51,698 votes counted so far. His closest rival, Oli, has received 8,518 votes.

Samir Tamang of the Shram Sanskriti Party, led by Harka Sampang, is in third place with 5,478 votes, while Nepali Congress candidate Madhura Chimoriya has received 930 votes.

The election office stated that of the 51,698 votes counted so far, 49,483 votes were valid while 2,215 were invalid.
