2,300 motorists penalized for violating traffic rules



KATHMANDU: A total of 2,300 motorists were penalized for violating traffic rules in the past 24 hours, generating Rs 2.084 million in revenue for the state treasury.

According to the Kathmandu Valley Traffic Police Office, action was taken against 104 drivers for driving under the influence of intoxicants, 177 for illegal ride-sharing, 147 for traffic light violations, and 105 for overspeeding.

Similarly, 56 motorists were fined for violating lane discipline, 152 for unnecessary honking in prohibited areas, 113 for roadside parking violations, and 141 for driving on one-way roads. In addition, 1,305 individuals were penalized for various other traffic offences.
