CHITWAN: Nepali Communist Party (NCP) Coordinator and former Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ cast his vote Thursday morning at the Nepal Police School Shantipur polling station in Bharatpur Metropolitan City–14, Chitwan.

Elections are being held today for the House of Representatives across 165 constituencies under the first-past-the-post (direct) system and 110 seats under the proportional representation system.

This marks the third House of Representatives election since Nepal became a federal democratic republic, following previous polls held in 2074 and 2079 BS.

A total of 65 political parties are contesting 61 election symbols in the direct election. Among the candidates, 3,017 are men, 388 are women, and one belongs to the other category.
