Squatter man dies during treatment at holding centre in Kathmandu



KATHMANDU: A man who had been staying at a holding centre in Kirtipur after being displaced from a squatter settlement has died during treatment at Bir Hospital.

According to family members, Bhesh Bahadur Darji, who had been moved to the holding centre following the removal of a squatter settlement, died on Thursday while undergoing treatment.

He was taken to the hospital after his health condition deteriorated. Doctors diagnosed fluid accumulation in his lungs during medical examinations.

The family said Darji had been suffering from a chronic lung-related illness for a long time, and his condition worsened recently, leading to hospitalization.

Bir Hospital stated that he passed away while receiving treatment in the intensive care unit (ICU).

Further details regarding the incident are yet to be confirmed, hospital sources said.
