KATHMANDU: Mountain guide Dawa Sherpa (Hilary), who had been missing for a week on Mount Everest, has been rescued alive and airlifted to Kathmandu for treatment.
Sherpa was found in the Khumbu Icefall region and provided initial medical care before being transported by helicopter to HAMS Hospital in Kathmandu.
According to rescuers, he was discovered with injuries and cold-related effects on his hands and feet after spending several days in the harsh high-altitude environment.
Following his rescue, he was flown to the capital for further medical treatment and observation.
The incident has been described as a miraculous rescue by members of Nepal’s mountaineering and tourism community, given the extreme conditions and the length of time Sherpa had remained missing in the Everest region.
