2,445 motorists penalized for violating traffic rules



KATHMANDU: A total of 2,445 motorists were prosecuted for violating traffic rules in the past 24 hours, generating Rs 22,76,517 in revenue for the state treasury.

According to the Kathmandu Valley Traffic Police Office, 128 drivers were booked for drunk driving, 160 for illegal ride-sharing, 141 for signal light violations, and 183 for overspeeding.

Similarly, 43 motorists were penalized for lane discipline violations, 123 for unnecessary honking in prohibited areas, 14 for illegal parking in road zones, and 166 for driving against one-way rules. In addition, 1,487 others were fined for various other traffic offences.
