Bandipur receives 650,000 tourists during Visit Year 2025

BANDIPUR: Bandipur, famously known as the “Queen of the Hills” of Tanahun, welcomed 650,000 tourists during the Visit Year 2025.

According to Baisha Bahadur Gurung, Coordinator of the Bandipur Visit Year Secretariat, the total included 103,000 foreign visitors and 547,000 domestic and Indian tourists. Visitors came from countries such as Japan, China, Italy, Spain, the Netherlands, France, the United States, Germany, Denmark, Pakistan, Australia, Britain, Ireland, South Korea, Belgium, Thailand, Taiwan, Switzerland, Malaysia, Portugal, the Czech Republic, Iran, Greece, and Argentina.

Gurung highlighted that the Visit Year initiative significantly promoted Bandipur tourism both domestically and internationally. “We successfully promoted Bandipur Visit Year, attracting tourists from across Nepal and abroad,” he said.

Under the patronage of Bandipur Rural Municipality, various programs were organized to promote tourist destinations not only in Bandipur Bazaar but also across all six wards. Surendra Thapa, Chairman of the rural municipality, said the goal was to make all wards of Bandipur a sustainable tourism hub, second only to Pokhara in Gandaki Province.

Throughout the year, 24 cultural events, literary conferences, and adventure tourism activities were held. Key attractions promoted include Khadgadevi Temple, Thanimai Temple, Mahalaxmi Temple, Siddhagufa, the Mani Mukundasen Walk (Mini Great Wall), Tindhara Waterfall, Tundikhel, Mani Mukunda Sen Palace, and Padam Library.

Traditional Bhaktapur-style houses and other local landmarks such as Ranivan, Ramkot, Sunkhari, Khaddevi Temple, Bindhyavasini Temple, Mahalaxmi Temple, and the local Information Center have also become major tourist draws, enriching Bandipur’s cultural and historical appeal.
